This is a picture of the Parachute Training Unit at Kasfareet. Bill Smith of the RAF Regiment gave the photograph to Jack Garry which was shot from a point facing the airfield with the No 3 Tech Wing Single Engine Hanger in the right background. Mike Favell confirms this as the correct hanger because he spent many `happy` hours there working on Vampies and other single engine aircraft.

During my web browsing for things pertaining to Kasfareet, I came across the British Pathe Newsreel site and a Canal Zone newsreel I was certain was shot from Kasfareet. In the next picture I show my comments on the various items of training equipment that can also be seen on the newsreel. The only piece not shown in the newsreel is the darn great scaffolding frame in the foreground but perhaps this may have been constructed at a date after the filming. On the newsreel I see what I believe to be in the distance, the southern end of Kasfareet village just over the Sweetwater Canal and also dark strips behind the fence which would be the airfield perimeter track and the end of the main runway. On another angle I can see the range of hills to the west of the camp. Mike Flavell has also confirmed to Jack Garry that from their registration numbers, he can confirm that the two aircraft were stationed at Kasfareet for parachute drop training.
