Mount Shubra is the name of a high hill in the range of hills that skirted the west side of the Suez Canal Zone. The easiest access was to catch a RAF welfare bus to RAF Abyad just beyond Fayid then a nice walk over rough terrain to get to the foot of the hills. Very good from a recreational point of view and also fine views out over the Zone and the Great Bitter lake.
