August 19th 2019...Rays` latest masterpiece
The latest Kasfareet Kartoon contribution from Ray " Tex " Williams
5th September 2018...Another more poignent cartoon this time. In fact the only humour was in the fact that the driver of this Queen Mary could have been the younger brother of the character playing the " mad cook " in several other Kartoons. He really enjoyed
" putting his foot down ! as he entered this tree lined section which some of my Army friends from the Canal Zoners Association called " Snipers Alley ".
We had collected the delivery fromPort Said but were determined to get backto 107 MU before it started getting dark -- for very obvious reasons !
This one is a great contribution to the site considering that Ray is still recovering from cataracts treatment. Sorry for the delay in posting Ray due to serious computer problems followed by my printer/scanner dying a death !

Ray`s latest contribution is his Kasfareet Kartoon below relating to his friendly banter with his mate, Bernard Maltby out there in Kasfareet and his article that follows the Kartoon describes their fortuitous meeting out on the parade ground. Bernard unfortunately passed away in 2012 and Ray along with Jack Garry attended his funeral. Ray will also be sending a copy of the Kartoon to Bernard`s daughter Lynn who now lives in Cyprus and who also logs onto this website for news of Ray. Bernard was with Ray on that scary adventure described in " Zigzag at Zagazig" further down this page.

July 2016....
July 2016....Ray`s latest Kasfareet Kartoon stems from a picture in his Photo album showing some guys playing billet cricket close to the Corporals Mess and Billet No 1. He has spiced up the action somewhat by including a poor victim of the dreaded Gyppo Tummy. Ray was unsure that with " hind sight ", he perhaps should not have drawn his " farts " as if they were coming from the back-end of a speedboat. Best left alone methinks...Alwyn
March 2016 ....Ray`s latest Kartoon recalling the many Pi dogs that roamed the Canal Zone
- Another great contribution from Ray "TEX" Williams. His cartoon is based on the laying of the first GREEN Rugby pitch in April 1951 at Kasfareet but it was not initially a success. Not enough top soil he reckons !!! Ray thinks that original surface enhanced players skills but they seemed happy enough from players points of view.
Tex has asked if there are any ` Kasfareetians ` out there who would like to chip in with a funny anecdote from their old days at KAS, please email them to mr.a.s.york AT ntlworld.com who will pass them on to him to cosider if he can turn them into a Kasfareet Kartoon for publishing on this page.
I made my own suggestion to Ray and sent him the details of my one greatest memory of Egypt. The result is the new Kartoon shown below and I am very honoured to form part of one of his brainwave drawings. I love the link-up with the occasion and York aircraft we flew in to the fsct that we had been recalled back early from our end of square bashing leave to rush more servicemen out to the Canal Zone which was still in the middle of " troubles " that had picked up again since 1951. Well done Ray for your web searches for back up material for the kite and the pyramid. I love it and the memory of that day in 1953.
ANYONE ELSE HAVE A GOOD SUGGESTION THAT RAY COULD TRANSFORM INTO A KASFAREET KARTOON ?
August 2015 and below Ray`s latest recollection of everyday life in Kasfareet. It is based on all those body builders at Kasfareet who took advantage of all the free time they had in Egypt to enhance their muscles - if they even had any ! In his billet, six lads were doing the Charles Atlas Dynamic Tension Course and Ray himself had " a go at it " but gave up after a couple of weeks because he saw no difference in the size of his biceps and " it made him far too tense !!! "
Below three more of Ray` s Christmas Kartoons which he used to produce his
Annual Christmas Cards.
