John`s first picture features the Stocktaking Section of 1 EQ Wing
This was taken in the Summer of 1954. Just a few weeks later, the agreement was reached to withdraw from the Canal Zone and that rendered our section redundant. We were all drafted into the rapidly expanding BSDM under it`s new title of Local Disposals Section
We were a mixture of Storemen and Clerks Equipment Accounts ( permanently posted on 1 EQ Wing at the outset, not ex PSCO ). But once we were transferred to the new section, we were all mis-employed at the coalface of disposals as it were ! Nobody minded because of the environment, the novelty of preparing and being part of the subsequent auctions and the face to face contact we had with the civilian contractors from Cairo.
