1955 saw the 10th and final Grand Prix de Kasfareet
Les Archer says....I have looked through my Race Archives for the Exiles. I can confirm there was a Grand Prix at Kasfareet held on Sunday 11th September 1955. I have a programme in which Terry Wesley wrote, " Today will see the last Grand Prix de Kasfareet and that it will be the last " massed start " road race to be promoted by the RAF (Egypt ) Cycling Association in Egypt . To his credit, Terry won the event. He and I both have a photograph of the finish. The last race to be held in the Zone was a 3 up Team Time Trial. This was promoted by the Abu Sueir CC. The course was principally on the Treaty Road with a turn at El Ballah ( very bumpy ). The Exiles provided the winning team "
The following sequence of photographs were taken by Alwyn York but no known date. John Basell advises that they do appear to be a Grand Prix de Kasfareet event. He took part in the 1953 and 1954 events and says they are not from one of those and so must be from the final 1955 Grand Prix. This could possibly supported by the fact these pictures do not show many spectators. At this time, I suppose most of the camp had already left for Blighty.

This picture was taken from a spot close to the officers billet quarters. The lead rider is just turning on to the main road which leads straight down to the main gate roundabout.
I have swung around to the left for this picture and this rider is just on to the main road down to the Treaty Road gate area. The ASS tent-lines and railroad telegraph poles are to the left.
Now approaching the roundabout near the main gate. The riders are just moving in towards me to take the inside line round the roundabout.
Now coming off the roundabout to take the main road down to the YMCA junction where they would turn left. The Fire Station and the Guard Room can be clearly seen to the right.
The start/finish line in front of the Sgts Mess with The Station Sick Quarters in the background.
